This type of communication is vital because it means you are talking to someone with important knowledge that can help you better understand your career trajectory. So how do you go about talking to a professional? Easy. You email, call or message them through LinkedIn. Again Google is your best friend here so research keywords and terms to find the right professional that can help you. Be sure to cast a wide net. Message a lot of people because chances are the response rate will be low. All you need is to have one person willing to talk to you and answer your quesions. What questions do you ask? Anything that you think is important about your job search and career. Ask them to be honest. More than likely they will share their experiences because thats the easiest thing to do. Truthfulness in Hiring Produces Loyalty - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Truthfulness in Hiring Produces Loyalty - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Three threads are interwoven in today’s article. It was the entrepreneurial spirit that significantly helped to develop the United States. Years later, Labor Day was established as a holiday in appreciation for the workforce. And through the years, returning Veterans from war were in need of finding work or establishing a business. As the author of HIRED!, many readers contact me to share their stories asking further advice. Honesty and integrity appear to be lacking on the side of employers. H.R. Managers do not seem to communicate with the hiring staff, while the hiring staff does not appear to be telling the truth to interviewing candidates. While a generalization, the following sentence exemplifies what is consistently shared with me: You are the perfect candidate and I cant wait to get you on our team. The offer will come this week. The story continues that after sending the recommended thank you email and handwritten thank you note, the candidate believing they have the job hears nothing in return. A follow-up phone call is made next to find where in the process they may but the candidate receives dead silence. The candidate begins to believe, I must have done something wrong. After analyzing all that took place, anger and disillusionment set in. All of this could easily be avoided if hiring companies were to move with honesty and integrity. Our economy is still struggling and the news indicates it will be late 2012 before it begins to pick up. I may be a dreamer, the same as John Lennon, but I believe it is the entrepreneurial world that may model how treatment of the workforce and interviewing candidates should take place. Interestingly, many people have become so fed up they have become entrepreneurs instead of continuing to look for work. In fact, the news stated that it is small business that generates most of our revenue in the U.S., not the major corporations. Perhaps there are several lessons to be learned here. Operating a successful business is one of the most difficult undertakings I ever participated in. But if you have the drive, motivation to continually learn, and truly believe you are capable of becoming successful, and should you be in the situation of no success while interviewing, you might consider starting your own company. What do you enjoy most about your area of expertise? This is the area on which to focus and begin planning your next steps. Seek help as required. It would be wonderful if entrepreneurs would ban together to set a new model and become the leaders for doing business the right way with clients, interviewing candidates and the world at large. My dream is that we, the entrepreneurs, model incorporating honesty and integrity into business that will have a trickledown effect to the corporate giants. They will win too by finally establishing a loyal clientele. This approach becomes a part of your brand and serves to also deliver you a Smooth Sale! Let us also band together to put Appreciation back into Labor Day. P.S. The Top 5 Resume Writing Service Sales

The Top 5 Resume Writing Service SalesDo you want to find the best resume writing service and hire them for your next job interview? Before you get started, there are a few things you need to know about the companies that are out there that offer these services. The best thing you can do is to look into the many forums out there and compare the feedback from other people who have worked with different companies. The majority of sales people are very quick to tell you what a good job they did, but many times they don't provide you with enough information to ensure that you are getting the right results. Let's take a look at the top 5 resume writing service sales that you should avoid if you want to find the best. The first company that I would avoid is the one that is based out of Miami. If you go to their website and click on the 'careers' section you will see that the careers section is a complete mess. There are several hundred resumes listed on there and the company claims that all of these people are actively searching for jobs, so you should know if this is true before you even apply for anything.Another one of the top resume writing service sales companies is also based out of Miami. The fact is that most of the sales copy that is posted on the site of the company does not work to help you get your resume noticed. The next company that is going to hurt your chances with the best resume writing service sales company is the company that only has a website. They have nothing more than a bunch of poorly written links to a bunch of different websites that have a resume writing service that is actually not that good. When it comes to getting your resume noticed, the last thing you want is to have a website that is useless and will cause a huge problem for you when it comes to getting the resume noticed.Even though a lot of companies are trying to take advantage of people by giving them free links that they are trying to sell to them, this is exactly what is going t o make you lose credibility when it comes to applying for jobs.It is important that you find the best service out there when it comes to hiring a resume writing service for your next job interview. Take some time to search for the right company to help you with your resume.Finding the best resume writing service will give you the best results when it comes to getting the job you want. The bottom line is that you are going to want to find a company that is legitimate and will give you exactly what you need to have a successful career.

Why Good Customer Service Can Positively Impact Your Career - Pathfinder Careers

Why Good Customer Service Can Positively Impact Your Career - Pathfinder Careers Why Good Customer Service Can Positively Impact Your Career Ever wonder how certain people seem to attract career opportunities either through promotions or new job offers? If you look closer, you’ll see that many of these successful people are ones who do a good job of treating everyone with courtesy and respect, while genuinely trying to expedite quality responses whenever possible. And since most business owners see fellow employees as internal customers, how well you “play” with others and go that extra mile can have positive, long-term effects on your career. So ask yourself this question:  Are you working as hard to create a pleasant and collaborative team environment as you are trying to please customers? “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” reads the famous Golden Rule. This is wise advice, not just for treating external company customers right, but also when working with company colleagues. Customer service matters inside the workplace as much as it does to the customer-facing side of the business. What you do, how you do it, and when you do it all affects how everyone else’s work flows within the company, and ultimately, how you are perceived as a team player and a strong employee. Stay vigilant about how you conduct yourself and treat others every single minute of every single day… you’ll be surprised that simply treating co-workers as internal customers can build people’s appreciation of what you are capable of and enhance your career reputation.

If You Want New Results, Try Something Different - CareerEnlightenment.com

If You Want New Results, Try Something Different A few years ago, I wrote a guest post for Career Enlightenment about my one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes. If you’ve never seen the episode, the character George (who, along with Elaine, are possibly my spirit animals) decides to do the opposite of everything because nothing is working for him. And, everything in his life starts turning around! Well, isn’t it about time you start doing that if your job search isn’t working? In the chart below, I broke down what I consider the “old way” of the job searching process versus some new, modern approaches to try:OLD WAYNEW WAY · Be overwhelmed with the entire job search process and go it alone. · Gather up a team, whether that is a career coach, another professional, or a trusted friend to assist you in your search. · Apply to as many jobs as possible. · Create a targeted companies list. Selectively apply to jobs that match your targeted companies with a custom application package. · Submit only online applications and hope for the best. That counts, right? · Submit online applications, but also find the name of the hiring manager or another company contact and send them a custom email with a copy of your resume. Go the extra mile. · Only practice interviewing in person. · Practice all types of interviews â€" phone interviews, Skype, FaceTime, and group. Be ready for anything! · Interviewing is a formal process. · Think of interviewing as a conversation! You are interviewing the company as well to find the best fit for you. Use your investigative skills to research the company. Don’t want to work late every night? Swing past the office at 7:00 pm and see if the parking lot is full. That will tell you more than on-line research will â€" so will the person at the front desk. · Resumes are a “career obituary” â€" a list of everything you’ve ever done. · Resumes tell your career story and how you can help a potential employer and alleviate their pain points. · Your resume should look like everyone els e’s. · Resumes are personal â€" make it your own. There are resources on both Career Enlightenment and my site, 9 to 5 Project to help you with this process. I’ve had many clients who have thought “outside the box” and were successful. For example, one client wanted to work at a particular company on her targeted list, so she would stop by with her resume to drop it off with the hiring manager (along with a note.) As I recall the story, they either interviewed her on the spot or thought she already worked there since she was always dropping by the office! At least, that’s how I remember it. I love that story! If your job search is not going the way you want it to, try do ing something else â€" just like George on Seinfeld. I bet you’ll have different results!
